i went to crank my car today and the damn thing did some crazy stuff. the tach is bouncing around like crazy but the avcr shows it having a steady rpm. then when you give it some gas the car misfires and then it cuts off and cuts back on like it is losing 12v or something. but it will idle aside from the bouncing tach thing. so far i have replaced all of the motor grounds and the coil and cap and map sensor. the car is a 94 gsr w./ drag II on it. the motor has upgraded pistons and rods and blockguard. stock head and ecu. someone told me to check the ignition switch and to unplug the afc and avcr. but like 1 month ago the vtec pressure switch stopped getting voltage from the motor harness. the ecu and the chassis harness still showed voltage. this made me think that the wiring harness went bad. maybe melted somewhere or somthing like that. i know the vtec pres. switch is near the distributor and if the wiring for it went bad maybe the same is going on with the distributor? make sense? what do you think.

Good thinking...
I would check for continuity from each sensor to its proper connection at each end of the engine harness. If you encounter any problems, repair the harness as needed.
Also, buy one of the MSD tach signal amplifiers (about $30) and connect it to your existing system... if the problem still exists, it is definitely in your wiring. This MSD product is a good idea on any car where the ignition wires are tampered with, so you will not be spending $$$ when it is not really necessary.
Good luck
